Mechabare suit assortment
As mentioned in the Mechabare-Mon story preface and reiterate the related blog post, I’ve been on a bit of a “mechabare” kick as it can be linked to skinsuits or rather robots wearing skinsuits and piloted by er… little people. The pilot aspect may take a bit to wrap one’s head around, but in the Mechabare-Mon story, I think I present a reasonably interesting explanation/take on the premise.
Pictured here are ver.1 and 2 of an “Amida Arca Mobile Suit.” I thought it an amusing take to make a mobile suit pilot into a mobile suit herself, so the pilot is piloting a pilot who’s in turn piloting a mobile suit. She’s from Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron Blooded Orphans, for the record.
The spider girl suit is Arania (Araniya?) from “Monster Girl Doctor,” and the lamia and her fairy pilot are original characters from Mechabare-Mon.
Lastly, the pilot for all but the last image is “Cassera,” my new OC in the works. Check out my blog series “Re-learning to draw” for her ongoing evolution.

Cashing in on the Mai in smash craze with the skinsuit angle, mtf and ftf versions. The ftf version was conceived as Mai wearing a Samus mask to sneak in, but Samus wearing a Mai bodysuit as a costume is equally valid as commentary after giving it some thought.
I’ve heard that Sakurai himself was not opposed to Mai, but it was getting around various ratings boards while maintaining the age rating that Smash launched with that Mai would have caused problems for. Allegedly at least.

To Forma Hero (Fire Emblem Heroes) (10/10/19)
A new mode in FE Heroes called Forma Tower Hall of Forms that requires you use token, mode exclusive characters to clear content. Said chars are described as “Forma Heroes,” and have the appearance and stat line of existing heroes, but come as blank slates of sorts with no skills and low level. Since you don’t summon for them, and can’t use them outside of the Hall of Forms, the way the game treats them differently from normal characters made me think of this idea for how Forma Heroes come about. At the time of making this, I hadn’t actually played the mode yet, but now that I’ve seen the intro, I may not have been too far off the mark!

Another sketch comic for fun, this doesn’t actually have anything to do with blazblue, I just ended up using Litchi’s character design because I think she’s hot.
More of a concept sequence than a story with any plot, this was a weird idea I had that might have some potential in other suiting applications as well. Planning for today’s inktober drawing to spin off from this particular ‘Litchi’ as well.

Was never quite satisfied with how the first Magical Kouhai pic turned out so I’d been itching to try again. The swimsuit episode a few weeks ago finally got my pencil moving and one thing led to another! I know I really phoned in backgrounds/props, I’ve been putting off getting better at those.
Nine the Phantom (Blazblue) (9/9/19)
Made the zipper really small by accident so you may have to zoom in to find it. Line weight and composition scale together has always been something I struggle with and I haven’t found a solution yet. I feel like there’s something from a tool/format standpoint (not related or only distantly related to actual drawing skill) that I’m missing that’s getting between me and professional looking lineart. I start out with a big canvas and 300 dpi, but end up zoomed in so far on details that I’m seeing individual pixels, yet my lines feel bulky and it can be difficult to fit in fine details. Maybe I need to force myself to not zoom in as much…
I am relatively pleased at how this turned out angle wise. It’s not totally right still, but it’s a marked improvement over my last attempt, and progress is something worth celebrating no matter how small.

Matt then put both hands back into Cindy’s hollow upper body, activating a peculiar phenomenon he had discovered prior. Cindy’s deflated head returned to life, and Matt suddenly found he could see in his mind through two pairs of eyes simultaneously. The first time he had found this feature it had made him sick, but with a bit of practice it had become his favorite way to enjoy Cindy when alone.

The president of Fortuna Company chuckled. “Fufufu… They’re all busy, and the other boys are, too. This wouldn’t be an conflict if there was someone available to take Tsubasa chan’s place, but given the scope of this ‘Enter-Kingdom’ event, I figured the scheduling was bound to mess up at some point. And since Tsubasa chan is the face of the event, I suspected it would be her. Hence having this emergency measure prepared.”
“If you’d anticipated something like this happening, couldn’t you have taken steps to prevent it rather than make me do… this?!” Itsuki protested.
“Come now, Itsuki kun. You said that since you don’t have any events of your own during ‘Enter-Kingdom,’ you’d be available to help out wherever needed, and I can’t think of a more dire need than this. Besides, you and Tsubasa are childhood friends, right? I can think of no better substitute! Now, Hurry up and put on that mask so we can get you in your costume!”
